My uncle is a cancer patient at Thakurpukur Cancer Research Hospital and he had to have an emergency surgery. The blood he needed during the surgery was available for him due to the generous support of LUCY and its members.

Your members are very special people. I wish I could go to everyone of them and thank them for giving my uncle the gift of life.

Hi,

 This is Priyaranjan Shrivastava working with one of Pvt. Ltd. Company in Mumbai as an Account Manager.

I am going to tell you an event which was very disaster situation for me and my wife.

My wife was pregnant and she possesses the RH “A” Negative Blood. At her earlier stage of pregnancy she was in Mumbai and I take care for her. We were attending the one of the reputed Hospital name Bhakti Vedanta which is situated in Mira Road (Mumbai) for her checkup & treatment. But due to the ups & down of her platelets doctor always remind me this not a good sign for her means might be problem arises during her delivery. But besides all this problems treatment was going on. Suddenly after passing of her 7^th month the doctor ignored to treat her and told her I cannot treat you please go to the another hospital and she refer one Govt. hospital name BYL Nair(Mumbai, Bombay Central). At that time I was became very angry with her steps. And tomorrow morning me and my wife again went to the Bhakti Vedanta and meet the doctor. I asked to the doctor what you have told to my wife on yesterday, she answered me; no I am not able to treat her due to ups & downs of platelets. But if you are rigid to treat her over here then be ready to incurred the expenses around 2 Lakhs. At that times I was shocked with her answer, for one baby born I have to incur 2 Lakhs. Then I told to the doctor Goodbye and again I told her, I wanted to tell you one thing doctor I can bear 15 babies within 2 Lakhs.

After that I decided to shift my wife at Calcutta because Calcutta is my home town and also my parents as well as my wife’s parents and relatives are also residing in Kolkata. On 9^th March’2008, me and my wife went to the Calcutta for her further treatment. We had visited lots of Hospital but lots of hospital ignored to treat her because already 7 month was going on. After that we have got the place on SSKM (PG, KOLKATA), but problem was still on its place what will happen with the blood. Because SSKM’s doctors also given me sign for blood but they were not rigid as Bhakti Vedanta.

But that moment has come on 20^th May’2008. Suddenly in morning session bleeding started and doctor shift to my wife in OT. They told my relatives bring the RH “A” Neagative Blood other wise we can not save your patient. My relative had searched all  places in kolkata but every one ignored to give them. Even they tried to Central Blood Bank but they refuse to give them. As per my concern humanity is first priority for all of us human being. No one was ready to do that and any one can feel if you cannot do any thing for your family  and due to the negligence of some people any one  becomes died then what you will do with the blood. I don’t think so human life is lesser than blood. But we mentally harshed with the answer of  Central Blood Bank Officials . By any way we have got a one donor but also at that time central blood bank officials refused to gives us blood against replacement. Even my wife is also blood donor and she always tries to save life of other. But what she gets when she is facing a crisis of blood. This is the main thing which broken the motivation of the people like as me. At that time I was in Mumbai. But suddenly we got the positive response from Lucy and Lucy arranged the blood for my wife.

Important points for all the visitors please remember the following points.

1)      When I heard about blood donation camp then at that time I do not believe in all this thing but remember my friends when you suffer you feel the need i.e.,will able to understand the importance of the tings like as blood.and like as me.

2)      This point is specially for doctor, for a human being doctor like as a God so I don’t think so Doctor should tell I cannot save the patient when you are shifting the patient to the OT. It’s thing for feeling, feel the word “cannot save the patient infront of the patient” in what condition patient will be when patient heard the such kind of word from doctor who is going to treat her/him.

3)      And be the human being first and help out to the other one because one thing is remains in the world i.e., Humanity except this all things has been disappeared.

One thing lastly I convey the message for all of us as well as doctor for SSKM, no doubt they save my child and my wife but the given statement of the doctor is not up to the mark i.e.” I CAN NOT SAVE YOUR PATIENT”
